Winter Training Trip

FYI, Parents are responsible for food/meals for the entire trip.  The hotel provides a complimentary breakfast and each room is equipped with kitchenettes.  There are also grills outside.

Penn State covers the cost of the bus, vans, hotel, pool rental and weight room.

According to the "Important Dates" schedule, swimmers may leave after morning practice, ending by 10 a.m. on Saturday, 12/22.  The bus (free) for Naples will depart at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, 12/27, from the McCoy Natatorium.  The first practice in Naples is on Friday, 12/28 at 3 p.m.  If your swimmer is not taking the bus to Naples, it is their responsibility to be at the first practice in Naples on Friday, 12/28 at 3 p.m. and to arrange transportation from the airport to Naples.  The team's last practice in Naples will be Saturday, January 5th in the morning (end time has not yet been determined).  Please do not book flights before noon to allow for travel time to the airport.  

Snack Monies being collected

Cheryl Grier is collecting $20 for each swimmer and diver to provide snacks and drinks at Big Tens.  Each athlete will receive healthy snacks and drinks for the entire meet.  If your son does not attend the meet, you money will be returned to you.

Volunteers Needed!!

We need 3 parent volunteers to help coordinate Big Ten activities:

- Someone to establish a block of rooms in attempt to get all parents in one hotel.
   (Adds to the fun if everyone is together)

- Someone to create the DVD/PowerPoint presentation honoring our 2 seniors.
  The parents will forward you photos of the boys to put into the DVD.  Add music.
  This is a highlight on the last evening of Big Tens at the banquet.  A projector and cables 
   will be rented from the hotel.  (Doesn't have to be a parent; can be a tech savvy teen at home    
   or another swimmer.)  A sample can be provided.

Welcome to the new Penn State University Swimming Parent's Blog.  News, Information and the like will be posted here for the Parent's of all PSU swimmers.

 What we hope to accomplish:
1) A Library for all information distributed to and for the Parent's by team correspondent, Cheryl Grier and all PSU Coaches. 
2) A place to share information on Parent lodging, dining and all things swim team related.
3) A diary for the swimmers, hopefully to include fun pictures and parent perspective on travel.
4) A place for the swimmers to find out about what their Parent's are doing in relation to meets and travel.

What this is Not:
1) A repository for or commentary on swim meets, times, coaches or swimmers.  We leave that to Penn State University!
